This is a blog about my memories of the Atari ST, the 16-bit computer that formed an important part of my childhood. I’ll be writing about the games I remember, some of the demos that amazed me with their technical excellence, perhaps a few of the more serious applications I used, and even my largely failed attempts at making something decent with STOS. In short, this is my tribute to the Atari ST, a machine I owned in several different forms throughout the late 80s and the 90s.

About This Site

As a long-time ST fan, I decided to create this blog mainly to share my memories of the Atari ST / STe, and the games / applications I remember using. Although I'll probably talk about games more than anything else, one thing I truly appreciated about the ST was its versatility - I remember dabbling with programming, art packages, ray-tracing, fractal creators, tracker programs, word processing, desktop publishing, being amazed by what people created on the demo scene, and more.

Given that I had my ST during my formative years, I remember it very strongly (not to mention the inevitable playground arguments with Amiga owners!) - having previously owned a ZX81, Commodore 16 and Spectrum +2, the step up to the 16-bit age felt like a huge step up. I then kind of missed out the whole 32-bit era (had really wanted an Atari Falcon, but...) and ended up with a PC. The incredible games and software from the dear old Atari days never left me however.

There are, of course, a large number of high-quality Atari-themed sites and blogs. I just wanted to add my specific memories to the retro-gaming ecosystem though, as ST-specific content seems a little under-represented compared to other systems. I have no specific release schedule for the blog - I will just post as and when the mood takes me.
